New View for the New Year

It’s that time of year again, resolution time!  Personally I’m not good at sticking to them.  I start out like a house on fire, and by the second day I start to rationalize, “ok just one more cookie then I’m done” or I get TO the gym, but only make a halfhearted attempt at a workout.

Maybe things would be easier if we made business resolutions.  With the state of the economy over the past couple of years, we need to be much more aggressive about doing business, getting new business, and for some, just staying in business.

If you own a business and have a website, you may have already thought about video. There are so many ways to use videos to promote your business.

Once you get good feedback on your goods or services, you can ask your satisfied customers to do a testimonial.  It doesn’t have to be long, and can be in an interview format to make the customer comfortable on camera.

Reviewing a product on video adds an extra dimension to a boring written review.  Not only can you talk about it, but you can demonstrate it as well.  Many times this approach will answer questions about the product or service for prospective customers, and lead right into a sale.

Use your video to do a business overview.  Tell your story or your company’s story.  Let your potential customers learn more about you and your business.  People want to know more about whom they’re dealing with.  And get that video out there, not just on your website, but social media.  If it’s done right, it will be circulated once you get the ball rolling.

There are so many ways to use video to promote your business, but it has to respond to the wants and needs of your particular market.  If your clients are looking for answers to problems, you have to figure out how to use a video to show them how your product or service can solve those problems.

Happy New Year,

Donna Mason
